The National Honey Show takes place towards the end of October, the culmination of the beekeeping season, each year. It is held at Sandown Park Racecourse, Esher, Surrey, UK.
Val's late father, a member of Wimbledon Beekeepers Association, had for many years, entered exhibits, taken a stand demonstrating wax foundation making, stewarding, and in later years showcasing his pollen drawings on the Quekett Microscopical Club stand at the show.
Val's father's books have always been launched at the show, and this year, Val and Claire's new book will be, too.
This year will be a special centenary year as it is 100 years since the first National Honey Show was held at the Crystal Palace in 1923. There will be lots of centenary entry classes, exhibitions, celebrations and events at this year's show.
Val has been publicity secretary for the show for the last 15 years, and organised the trade hall bookings since the show moved to Sandown Park. We are embracing modern social media, and there will be more live and future videos from this coming show on our social media channels including the National Honey Show YouTube channel.
